The Miami Yacht Club
President Dave Skinner called the meeting to order. Jay Almeida gave an invocation. Scott Richey led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Guests and Visitors were introduced Cory Gittner:
- Ron Gerstl – was a member of the club for 15 years. He very happily informed us that he now does not do anything. LOL
- Vito Abaroa and Bashar Ghanem – both own Service Queen, Inc. They recently moved to Miami from Canada. They help business owners transition out of their distressed companies.
Announcements:
- The District has scheduled Rotary University for Saturday, August 24th. It is free and a wonderful day of training;
- A few more important dates:
- June 20th – Evening event for Norby’s induction;
- June 27th – Awards and recognition lunch;
- July 4th – To be celebrated at Don and Maria Van Orsdel’s home in Coral Gables;
- Please respond to your membership renewal emails;
- Jaime Tobin received her Blue Badge today and is graduating from college.

- Rick Miller is happy to see all his friends;
- Virginia Jacko is thrilled to be here;
- Diane was happy the Shelleys made the paper. They attended an event for Informed Families. Diane is also happy she won the $500 gift certificate for Neiman Marcus at the Lighthouse for the Blind event;
- Noreen Timoney finished a training course on project management and is happy she is going to attend a 5 year old’s birthday party;
- Ron Gerstl is happy to see so many old faces;
- Robert Bull is happy to be travelling to San Francisco tomorrow. His wife Stephanie is already there;
- Jay Almeida is happy to see Virginia Jacko from the Lighthouse. He said that Norby and Maria are in Amsterdam today and Jay’s daughter Jessica may join them for dinner.

Today’s pot began with $1,024 in the 50/50 Prize Pool! We sold $97 at the Thursday lunch creating a potential prize of $1,121! Cory Gittner did not pick the lucky Ace of Spades, but gets $25 toward his EREY. We therefore add the net $72 to the $1,024 to get next week's starting total of $1,096. Phil Seipp says we are starting to see some serious prize money!
