President Robert Bull called the meeting to order. Shirley Pardon gave an invocation. Rick Miller led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. We had thirty-nine attendees.

Announcements

John Harrison celebrated his fifth anniversary as Member of our Club on August 27th. Linda Singer and Dave Skinner celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on August 31st. Frank Voytek will be celebrating his birthday this Saturday.

Happy Birthday to Norm Kassoff who will be turning 90 tomorrow! There was a birthday caravan celebration for Norm, and Jay shared an absolutely wonderful video of it. Norm, you are such a special person, we have all learned so much from you, and we love you!!!!!

  • We recognized our frequent overseas visitors, Ronald Felton, Dr. Jens Neumann and Dr. Charlotte Gromsen with a certificate as Distinguished Rotarian Visitor.

  • Dunia Miranda-Mauri will be speaking at the Rotary Club of Doral as a guest speaker on September 8th at 7pm.

  • Robert & Stephanie Bull delivered food supplies to the Kosher Food Bank.

  • Milk and Honey Event to be held on Sunday, September 13th. Food for Holocaust Survivors and Seniors Drive. Email blast has already been sent out. More information to contact Noreen.

  • A Liability Waiver relating to COVID has been sent out to all Members, please sign and return.

  • Diane Superville Travel advisor and President of Superville Travel, specializing in all-inclusive trips, travel and cruising. She has been a travel advisor for over six years. She helps individuals and organizations plan and embark on wonderful trips. Diane believes the travel industry will come back slowly but surely and the cruise industry is going greatly improve after this Covid experience.

  • President Robert virtually presented Ms. Superville her Certificate of Appreciation

  • Hispanic Heritage Month – September 17th at 5:30pm Happy Hour. Sponsored by Guatemalan Consulate and Ron Botran.

 
  • Canes on Canes Presentation next week – Ph.D. UM students will be discussing hurricane season from a scientific perspective as well as what it means for us.

  • Marcia Brod had a fan in the bedroom making noise and bought a new one. Struggled to get the new one on the ceiling. The new one made noise too! Now they are getting another new one which should be easier to install.

  • Arlene Terrinoni is in California visiting her family and is enjoying the amazing weather over there. She is having a wonderful time with her grandchildren, and will be back in Miami next week.

  • Randy Lichtman announced that his mother got Covid and developed pneumonia. She is home now and is on oxygen, but seems to be getting better thanks to the treatments. Please have Randy’s mother in your prayers so that she can continue to get better.

  • Robin Shelley was happy that we had a really good sports week for Miami sports teams. Also, in one week the University of Miami starts their new football season.

Angela Deggs led us in the 4-Way Test of the things we think, say or do!

Robert added a 5th one, WILL IT BE FUN??!!! And wished everyone a Happy Labor Day weekend. That concludes another wonderful and fun meeting for the Rotary Club of Miami.
