President Robert Bull welcomed everyone to our Midday ZOOM Meeting at 12:30 PM. We had thirty-five Members and guests (including guests from Germany and India) in attendance.
Arlene Terrinoni gave the invocation and Tim Ryan led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Today is National Doughnut (Donut) Day and Robert Bull invited everyone to go out and buy a delicious Doughnut.
Birthdays: Cathy Cahill’s birthday was on the day of our meeting. Susan Lichtman’s birthday was on November 6th, while Don Van Orsdel’s birthday is on November 11th. Happy birthday to all of you.
Btw, Don, November 11th in Europe is known as Armistice Day. In the UK, everyone wears a poppy flower on their lapel to honor that day.
November is also Rotary Foundation Month. Robbin Shelley, Chair of our Club’s Foundation activities talked to us about the different activates that the Foundation conducts and the importance of contributing to the Foundation. Rotary has an EREY campaign (Every Rotarian, Every Year), where it is expected that all Rotarians will contribute every year to the Foundation.
Our District has just started the Golf Ball Drop campaign, where for $25 you may purchase a golf ball, which will count toward your EREY. All of the golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter over a target on the Biltmore Golf course. The closest balls to the pin will win a prize. Please buy your Golf Ball Drop tickets soonest.
November will be a very busy month. Norby Rudel will be leading a Virtual Conference on November 14th. The theme of this Conference is Leading Change in a COVID World. Norby told us that many students have signed up for this conference. He reviewed the agenda of the Conference and thanked all of the Rotarians who will be assisting. These are Steve Dutton, Tim Ryan, Diane Landsberg, Noreen Timoney, Priscilla Dames, Angela Deggs, Natacha Metayer, Ada Dana, Randy & Susan Lichtman. Thank you to all.
November 14th is also the date of the Walk to END Alzheimer’s. Our Club will be participating and there is still time for those interested to sign up. We will not walk in a large group, instead this year we will walk in our neighborhoods. The following Saturday, November 21st, is the Heart Walk. An email blast about both Walks will be send out shortly.
Our Public Image program is very important for our Club’s awareness and engagement. Jay Almeida leads this program. He cannot do this all by himself, we are all responsible for our Social Media penetration. President Robert Bull showed everyone how they may increase our Facebook following. He shared his screen and showed how to “invite” one’s Facebook friends to “like” our Rotary Club of Miami page.
Arlene Terrinoni introduced our guest speaker, Ms. Jodi M. Farrell from the ArshtCenter. Ms. Farrell gave an interesting presentation using a fantastic PowerPoint slide presentation. We learnt that our 5,000,000 guests have been welcomed to the Center and the Arsht Center has had a strong economic impact to downtown Miami. Since the COVID shutdown, Arsht has been closed to the public but they are reaching out and staying connected through Social Media with their Arsht@Home program. They do not anticipate reopening up to the public until the Fall of 2021. Details about how to connect with the Arsht Center will be emailed to the membership. After her presentation, Robert Bull, presented Ms. Jodi M. Farrell with a virtual Certificate of Appreciation. The original will be mailed to her address.
Happy Dollars donations for the month of November will be dedicated to our Christmas Toy Drive. We will be supporting the Miami Rescue Mission in their goal to have 6,000 new toys to distribute to children of needy families. Every children should have the joy of receiving a new toy during Christmas. We will also be supporting their Christmas meal program. Happy Dollars were donated by Oliver Ruiz, Noreen Timoney, Arlene Terrinoni, Norby Rudel, Marcia Brod, Robbin & Susan Shelly and Ron Felton (our visitor from Mexico). Also during the Happy Dollars period, Golf Ball Drop tickets were purchased by Robin & Susan Shelley (4), Robert Bull (1) and Marcia Brod (1).
One of our newer Members, Natacha Metayer, led us in the Four-Way Test and then Robert Bull ran the bell to end the meeting at 1:31 PM.
