President Brian Tschirhart got the meeting started after an extended fellowship time that was enjoyed by all in attendance. Robin Shelley gave an invocation and Norby Rudel led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Juan Manuel Lopez Badra is a visiting Rotarian from Argentina;
Martina Ellerbe, whose mother is a Rotarian in New Jersey, is a recently moved to Miami and was checking out the Club;
Lesly Nicole Santiago has visited with us before and joined us for lunch today.
Thursday, January 26 – Meeting on Zoom
Saturday, January 28 Past President Robert Bull has organized a tree planting at Coral Estates Park, 1405 SW 97th Ave., at 10:00 in the morning. We will be planting 315 trees. Water and juices will be available, plus light snacks, at no charge. Please let us know if you will be attending to ensure that we have sufficient supplies for all. Thursday, February 2 – No luncheon meeting
Friday, February 3 – Club members should meet at FIU for this year’s TBM Pinning Ceremony. This is always a terrific event with great people and food! The event starts at 4:30.

Sunday, February 12 – We will be planting pollinator shrubs from 10:00 am and having a family picnic on Pelican Island near Pelican Harbor, off the 79th St. Causeway. Check email from Robert Bull for more details.
Thursday, February 14 – will be an evening social event (no daytime lunch meeting) for a belated Valentine’s Day celebration. Come with your significant other, if you like, for a happy hour at Bay 13 in Coral Gables near Alhambra and Douglas.

Thursday, March 16 - Save the date for the club Anniversary luncheon celebration with other clubs in the area at the Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne. Invitations should be out this week with a more formal announcement of Sponsors. Today’s Speaker
Robert Garner is a Senior Vice President with American Medical Response and a Global Medical Response Therapy (GMR) Dog Handler. His dog, Karma, won over the hearts of everyone at lunch as Karma walked the room willing to get pats and hugs from everyone.
GMR is changing the face of healthcare for patients in communities, work settings and homes. They believe that no matter who you are, or where you are, you deserve timely, equitable and appropriate access to healthcare.
GMR’s scope of services covers ground and air emergency medical services, air and ground interfacility transportation and managed transportation. They are a nationally contracted company that responds where and when needed to all types of situations, including disasters and large-scale events. The organization now has 80 service dogs to help their employees who need relief during their stressful work.
Mr. Garner was Past President of Optimist International in 2000-01. He understands the importance of service and recognizes the similar missions that the Optimist and Rotary Clubs have.

Robin and Susan Shelley were happy to have served as the Aide for RI International President Jennifer Jones on her recent visit to Miami. She is a warm and caring individual and looks forward to working with other service clubs to promote our similar missions.
Norby Rudel enjoyed his volunteer efforts as Jennifer Jones’ bodyguard. The only close call was a slight misstep on Ms. Jones’ dress train. Luckily the dress and Ms. Jones were fine.
Noreen Timoney was thrilled to meet Karma.

Dave Skinner had his lucky ticket selected, but did not pick the Ace of Spades. He did, however, go home with a nice bottle of wine!
