President Norby Rudel called his sixth meeting as President of the Rotary Club of Miami to order. Rick Hernandez gave an invocation.

Greisy Martinez Harvell – is a TBM scholarship recipient. She was very appreciative of the scholarship and took a photo with Norby.
Bill Tenny – is retired, and a guest of Renel Noel. He is a former member of the Palm Beach Wheel Club.
Leo Toledo – is the CEO of his own company, Sandler Training. He specializes in sales training.

Phil Seipp informed us that the FIU Medical School Dean will be here this coming Thursday, August 22nd to speak. Let’s make a good showing for this speaker.
Diane Landsberg told us that if you’ve had a birthday this year, if you add how old you are to your birth year, it comes out to 2019. Only happens once in 1,000 years. She also informed us that we are starting three Rotaract Clubs. Are you going to Rotary University? Joe Roth will fix your jewelry.
Bunny Uriarte is happy to welcome Greisy, Lucas and Leo. Bunny said she had the pleasure of interviewing Norm Kassoff. She said she learned so much, and there are more videos to come.

Norby Rudel is happy because he is going to a Marlins game, alone.
Jay Almeida is happy for all of the activities that the club was involved with last week. There was the Lighthouse for the Blind event, an Interact Event, Feeding the Hungry in Homestead with the First United Methodist Church that Robert Bull coordinated. Members gave food to 590 FAMILIES and backpacks to 25 kids. There was also the Miami Kids Magazine event and the Norm Kassoff interview.
Robin Shelley gave $19 because he was born the 19th of August. Hooray for Leos. He was proud his grandson is doing so well and winning so many awards in the recent Regatta he participated in.

Rotary University is August 24th. Norby will be there. He is going to talk about PR, Social Media and the Foundation. Anyone want to carpool?
RLI is September 21st. Please tell Diane. If you sign up and you don’t go, you owe the club $100.
Beach cleanup is scheduled for Saturday the 21st as well.
Setting up a Satellite club on Miami Beach, which would be mainly social. We are looking for volunteers for this exploratory committee.

Marcia Brod introduced Lucas Hernandez from Microsoft
Lucas spoke about Microsoft’s future of integration with our community. Microsoft is partnering with various groups such as the Knight Foundation, Code for Miami, Code Fever, Health Foundation of South Florida, the Miami Foundation, Citi Foundation, Uber, CIC Miami, Venture Café Miami, Tech Beach, FIU, The University of Miami and Miami Dade Community College to further local community service projects. They also want to increase the tech talent in our community and are currently talking with local universities to help do that.
The goal is to apply Microsoft resources to address civic challenges while advancing the relevance and reputation of Microsoft.
We look forward to partnering with Lucas and Microsoft on a future project.

Diane Landsberg was the lucky first draw in today’s raffle. She was not however lucky enough to pull the winning card. Next meeting the prize money goes up to over $2,000. Come early and buy a bunch of tickets – you can’t win if you don’t buy one!
The meeting ended with the recitation of the 4-Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do led by Bunny Uriarte.
