The Miami Yacht Club
 
President Dave Skinner called the meeting to order.  Jay Almeida gave an invocation and Jaime Tobin led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
 
Announcements:
  • Last week’s Rotary University was an excellent learning experience for the many club members who attended;
  • Our Season’s 52 social event was, once again, a resounding success.  Don’t miss it next time we all hang out together;
  • Phil Seipp and Karla Richey were happy to present a $500 check to Virginia Jacko for the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.  The funds will be used to support a soon-to-be-opened playground on the site;
  • President Dave encouraged everyone to send any club photos taken to admin@miamirotary.org so that they can be included on the club website. If possible send them at original size;
  • Noreen Timoney shared that programs are filling up fast and if you have speakers or ideas you would like to hear about please let her know;
  • Remember to sign up for Rotary Leadership Institute on September 29.
 
Happy $$$$$$$$$$$$ were collected by Rick Miller:
  • Rick Miller was happy to share his desire to help any club member or friends who might be interested in property and casualty insurance;
  • Karla Richey was happy that Virginia Jacko and Cameron Sisser were at the meeting today.  She also thanked those who helped with her Miami Kids Magazine event at Sunset Place;
  • Jay Almeida was excited about the Public Image program presented at Rotary University;
  • Randy Lichtman shared that 52 students have signed up expressing interest in Rotaract at Miami-Dade College downtown campus.  He is also looking forward to some traveling coming up, including a trip to Chicago to see his sons;
  • Robin Shelley was looking forward to traveling to Dallas to see the UM vs LSU football game – Go Canes!
  • Renel Noel was relieved to learn that an x-ray machine he received has arrived safely in Haiti.  It should be of great help to the people there;
  • Virginia Jacko and Cameron Sisser were both happy to be at the meeting and invited everyone to the opening of the new playground at the Lighthouse;
  • Angela Deggs enjoyed the YMCA’s fundraising event and is looking forward to an upcoming family reunion of over 700 people.  WOW!
  • Linda Singer is celebrating 22 years - 1 day of being married to hubby Dave Skinner;
  • Diane Landsberg was glad for today’s turnout and thanked President Dave and Norby Rudel for their work;
  • Noreen Timoney enjoyed Rotary University and the YMCA event;
  • Phil Seipp reminded everyone that Happy $$$$ are going towards their EREY contributions.

There are three sites that as a Rotarian you can access:
  1. www.miamirotary.org
This is the club website that provides you information on what’s happening in the club with an updated calendar and photos of what’s been going on. A “members" login” is also available to gain access to fellow member information and much more.
  1. www.directory-online.com
This login is for the district and club data base.Here you can update your information and learn about others in the district. The website for general information about the District is www.Rotary6990.org
  1. www.my.rotary.org/en
The login here will bring you to a page to register for an account at Rotary International, if you do not have one open already.  The main site for Rotary International is:  www.rotary.org
 
All of these sites can help supplement any information you might have already, or possibly need in the future, about Rotary internationally, our district and our specific club.  Take some time to explore, the possibilities are endless.  If you have any difficulties accessing these member login areas, contact the club tech gurus Dave Skinner and Norby Rudel.
 
A Zoom online video conference was held and many were able to join in. There will be more demonstrations coming up soon so everyone will have an opportunity to learn to use this technology for online meetings.
 
Angela Deggs led everyone in the 4-Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do to conclude a very informative meeting for all.
