President Dave Skinner called the meeting to order. Marcia Brod gave an invocation in remembrance of D-Day. Angel Rodriguez led us in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Ron Gerstl, a former club member, came to the meeting today;
Vito Abaroa and Bashar Ghanem – both own Service Queen, Inc. visited the club again. They, too, are potential members.

Diane Landsberg has requested that we all provide her a list of our accomplishments for the year. This is so important so that we can recognize our efforts and achievements. It is also important in being officially recognized by RI with a Rotary Citation as an outstanding club. One other note, your accomplishments as reported by you will be used in determining our year-end awards and member recognition. No report - No recognition!!

Member Focus:
Marcos Menendez has been a Miami Rotarian for 12 years.
He learned about Rotary in Puerto Rico and decided to check Rotary out when he came to live in the United States.
Marcos is an entrepreneur who can create, run and monitor sweepstakes contests online for companies nationwide. He’s the only person he knows that can claim this as their vocation!
He has been married for 19 years and has two children. Marcos loves and teaches Martial Arts. He shared a photo of what it looks like to perform these martial arts on five attackers at once!

Phil Seipp, Club Treasurer, gave us an update on the financial health of our club!
The Club has assets in $118,400 and $25,000 in cash. Additional funds are held at Northern Trust.
From Profit/Loss position, the Club is well in the black.
The Miami Rotary Club Foundation has a net worth of $844,000
The Thomas Brown McClelland Trust is currently valued at $4.8 Million. Approximately $7.1 million has been awarded to students since its creation.
Norm Kassoff took a moment before the meeting closed to thank everyone for their kind words and calls on the recent passing of his wife, Carol. She will be missed!
50/50 :
OK, it’s time for the 50/50 drawing. We had $1,096 carried over from last week, and sold $120, so the 50/50 pot for today is $1,200. Thank you Renel Noel for handling the ticket sales. Dave Skinner had the first ticket drawn but did not draw the lucky Ace of Spades :(
