WELCOME – President Norby rang the bell to begin the meeting. He welcomed members and guest/s.
INVOCATION – Dave Skinner – gave the invocation
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – Led by Dave Anderson
VISITORS & GUESTS – Norby introduced our one guest, Carlos Bonadies who he had met at an event – not Rotary
BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES – Angela Deggs (yesterday), Arlene (24th) Marcos & Phil
HAPPY $$$S – Led by TIM RYAN
Rick Miller was happy that he had visited his son in Atlanta
Renel Noel – happy to announce that he sent all his hurricane supplies collected for previous storms to the Bahamas. Rotarians helped him pack them onto the truck to take to the ship.
Norby – happy that he had a great time at the Soccer clinic. Rotary provided 70 T shirts for the boys.
Noreen – pleased to be part of the Rotary Club of Miami and participate in the large number of community events that we have going on.
Robin Shelley – Had been at a birthday breakfast with Susan for their son.
Tim Ryan – Happy that he was starting infusion treatment and chemo, and not having to shave!
BUSINESS ANNOUNCEMENTS – Norby asked ROBERT BULL to give details of events:
9/21 – Beach cleanup
9/21 – Rotaract pinning and brunch at Diane’s house
9/28 – Temple Judea – Milk & Honey – giving supplies to the elderly
SPEAKER – INTRODUCED BY NORMAN KASSOFF – DR. RICHARD SOUVIRON
Dr. Souviron gave a lively and informative talk on being an odontologist which is a forensic dentist. He was instrumental in matching Ted Bundy’s teeth to the bite marks left on victims. He discussed the forensics of the case which had not been revealed before. The TV and films of Bundy did not include this important evidence which eventually proved his guilt.
Norby presented him with a speaker’s certificate in appreciation
50/50 – Marcos announced that it had started at $2,616 – collected $216 today – total $2,872.
Winning ticket was drawn by Amelia – but did not draw the Ace of Spades.
