Christina Justin, an Attorney who has recently moved to South Florida from Nassau, Bahamas is looking for a Rotary Club to fall in love with. Christina was invited by Dave Anderson.
Announcements:
President Dave encouraged ticket sales for the 50-50;
Dave also reminded the members to use the $100 each from the club foundation for a local service project.
April 18 our speaker will be Alice Burch, speaking on Sustainability.
The May 9 lunch meeting has been cancelled. It will be replaced by a joint meeting with our Interactors at Diane’s house on Friday, May 10. Email with details to follow.

Randy Lichtman just returned from seeing his son and fiancée in Milwaukee. The Rotaract Club of Miami-Dade College won the community service award of the year from Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus. Randy’s spouse and member, Susan Lichtman, was happy that her Miami-Dade College students won two prestigious awards;
Diane Stieber was happy to have seen and spent time with her mother and daughter;
Rick Miller is happy to see Dave Anderson back;
Jay Almeida hosted the first social media meeting with good results. His daughter Stephanie is a model for Vogue UK magazine;
Norby Rudel was happy to play last night for Anthony’s Pizza while the Rotary Club of Coral Gables was hosting its happy hour;
Linda Singer is happy to have spent a lovely weekend with members of a social club in Punta Gorda and Venice, Florida;
Bunny Uriarte is happy that her master’s program at FIU is nearly over.
OUR SPEAKER: Diane Landsberg
Our very own member, Diane Landsberg, told us that she trained for 35 years in Tae-Kwon-Do, in which she is a fourth degree black belt. Her speech focused on safety tips. To be safe:
Always be cautious. Be alert and aware of your surroundings and people around you. When you are out on the street, make eye contact with passersby. Stay alert and use your senses by not wearing earbuds or at night, by not wearing sunglasses;
Keep people at a safe distance from you and let them know if you are uncomfortable that they are too close to you;
Reduce what you carry with you;
Keep a photocopy of your credit cards front and back in a safe place;
Keep kids safe: have them memorize their parents’ phone numbers, which should be written in the tongue of their sneakers;
Keep your garage door closed;
Remove your name from anything you throw out or give away;
Deliver Amazon packages to your work, not home, to prevent theft;
You can destroy your papers by soaking them in water to turn them into pulp, then by rolling them into balls that become rock hard;
Copy or photograph the driver licenses of people working in your home or going out with your children;
When taking Uber or Lyft, take a picture of the license plate and text a loved one or friend with that photo, advising of your impending ride-sharing trip.

Rick Hernandez sold the 50/50 tickets. Over $700 was in the pot. Rick Hernandez’ ticket was picked but he drew the six of diamonds, so the pot rolls over to next week.
