PRESIDENT NOREEN TIMONEY opened the meeting. PAST PRESIDENT JAY ALMEIDA took over as host as President Noreen was ill and unable to speak. He welcomed everyone on her behalf. Feel better Noreen!

FEB. 5TH District Interact Conference - DIANE LANDSBERG stated that the conference may have to be postponed due to computer glitches in the sign-in process. She would let everyone that had signed up to help know.
FEB. 11TH – TBM PINNING AT FIU - PHIL SEIPP said how important it was to be present on this special occasion. He explained and described TBM and the legacy of the endowment given by Thomas Brown McClelland. MARCIA BROD told members about the Alumni that she writes to on a regular basis to share information and encourage them to “give back” to the Trust. Contributions back to the Trust are now almost $150,000.
FEB. 12TH – TREE PLANTING – Key Biscayne. Consider donating to our tree planting while honoring someone. Donations are $10 per tree/$18 for 2 trees. Deadline for dedicating a tree is Friday, February 4th.
FEB. 14TH VALENTINE’S PARTY – DIANE LANSBERG’S house - Please RSVP directly to Diane if you are planning to attend. Wine and food (not dinner) will be served.
GUEST SPEAKER – DR. AGATHA CARABALLO was introduced by STEVE DUTTON
Dr. Caraballo is the Founding Director of the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership.
The Institute was set up by the family of Maurice Ferré to continue his work of Civic Engagement in the community. At the heart of the Institute is Civic Leadership and Involvement.
There are Fellowship programs plus a special collaboration with the leaders on the island of Puerto Rico, his original home.
The facility is going to be housed in a new complex of FIU which is currently under construction – expected to open Spring 2023. The goal is to offer courses for K - 12 teachers and will be partnering with many other organizations and Foundations.
There were several questions from members. STEVE DUTTON suggested reaching out to Rotaract at FIU, which Dr. Agatha said she would. She will also come to the Pinning on February 11th and meet everyone in person.
STEVE DUTTON - for the presentation; PHIL SEIPP - Happy and excited about the pinning ceremony. He said we will be presenting stethoscopes to new recipients. The Rotary Board approved a TBM fundraiser with matching donations up to $100,000 by the Rotary Foundation; AMELIA BONILLA - great presentation; ROBIN AND SUSAN SHELLEY - For the presentation and Dr. Agatha’s work

4 WAY TEST – ROBIN SHELLEY – gave the history of the 4 Way Test and how it came to be adopted by Rotary.
President Noreen rang a bell to end the meeting and Past President Jay officially closed the formal meeting at 1:20pm. but kept the room open for members to chat.
