President Brian Tschirhart (pictured above) is on a family (he has a big one) vacation in the Bahamas. Past Presidents Diane Landsberg and Jay Almeida took over the reins for today’s meeting.

Jay Almeida gave an invocation and soon-to-be Miami Rotarian Tish Showell led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.

Jake Silvia and Robert Black are principals with Poseidon Ferry. Mr. Silvia started his career in the boat business and learned it from the bottom up. He is proud of his work with local partners, including local governments, in getting the Poseidon Ferry up and running.

Poseidon’s Mission is providing safe, reliable and affordable waterborne transportation services to residents and visitors throughout Miami-Dade County and Southern Florida. Currently they run service Thursday-Monday from the James L. Knight Convention Center & Hyatt Regency lobby on the river to the Bentley Bay Marina on Miami Beach and back.

Expansion to other areas are on the drawing board for the future. They include Coconut Grove, the Seaquarium, Haulover and potentially South Miami Dade as well.

The vessel is also used as a charter for groups and parties. The Rotary Club of Miami will be sailing on the ship Thursday, August 25. Sign up and join in – see below for details:

• Marcia Brod was happy to win, after two appeals, a disapproved claim from a provider to Medicare;

• Steve Dutton is looking forward to his 405 day 19 back-to-back around the world cruise departure in two months. He’s also excited to have Tish Stowell joining the club;

• Dave Skinner is looking forward the Poseidon cruise;

• Oliver Ruiz enjoyed a family vacation in a very hot Europe. The cruise ship was only half booked, so the food was more than plentiful;

• Robin Shelly encouraged cruise lovers to sign up for the District 6990 cruise on November 4, 2022. If you’re interested, contact Robin for details.
